Doctor Zachery Tims, Jr. was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Parochial schools throughout grade school and high school. As a teen, Dr. Tims surrounded himself with the "wrong crowd" in the inner city of Baltimore. He soon got involved with illegal activity that led him to the juvenile system for nine months of his life. It seemed Dr. Tims was going to be just another statistic. But God had another plan for his life.
In a profound encounter, Zachery Tims was introduced to Jesus Christ in a friend's basement and became born again. He was instantly delivered from his lifestyle of crime and drug addiction. He immediately got involved in a 1,500 member charismatic church where he served under strong leadership and spiritual mentoring. The Lord led him to enroll in Maranantha Bible College and Towson State University, and simultaneously, he received two degrees, one in accounting. Being fully nurtured on the Word of God and exercised proven in the faith, Tims was ordained the youngest deacon ever to serve at his church. He was soon ordained minister and eventually elder.
Dr. Tims was hired by the Baltimore church to oversee their Christian School’s finances. This was the beginning of Pastor Tims’ deep training for the ministry where he learned the inner workings of the church. After a year of overseeing the church’s school finances, he was made chief financial officer of the whole church’s eight million dollar a year ministry. Along with overseeing the whole administration of the church’s finances, he accepted a dual position as human resource director over sixty-four employees. His dedicated commitment and strong hand of diligence was the key that unlocked the door to his new assignment from the Lord in Orlando, Florida. In addition to serving as the senior pastor of New Destiny, Dr. Tims has become a nationally recognized and sought after speaker. Through Zachery Tims Ministries, he is able to take his simplistic, charismatic way of sharing the gospel all over the world.
Dr. Tims balances his life and ministry as the dedicated husband of Riva F. Tims and is the proud father of four beautiful children, Zoelle, Zachery III, Zahria and Zion.
