According to BlackVoices, it’s now official.  Usher is rehiring his mother, Jonetta Patton, as his manager, officially ending his business relationship with Benny Medina.

The management change appears to be over the lackluster response to his latest CD  .

Usher made headlines in 2007 when he fired his mother just days before Mother’s Day for apparently not approving of his relationship with Tameka Foster.

The Second Annual Rick Ross Be Out Day was interrupted by gunfire yesterday, according to AllHipHop.com.

The annual event took place in Carol City Park and offered the local community a day of food and fun sponsored by Rick Ross himself.

The event went off without a hitch, until Ross took the stage and that’s when the gunfire erupted.

“He was giving back to the community when this happened,” a source on the scene told AllHipHop.com in an exclusive statement. “Rick and the whole Poe Boy team got on stage and that’s when someone in the crowd started shooting.”

The shooting resulted in a number of people fleeing the area in fear of their lives, the witness added. Rick Ross Be Out Day provides local children with back-to-school necessities.

The annual Rick Ross Be Out Scholarship is normally presented at the event, which was also sponsored by The City of Miami Gardens and The Children’s Trust.

Police have confirmed the shooting with AllHipHop.com and have revealed that one man is in custody, while another man remains at large.

Rihanna and Chris Brown consistently deny that they’re an item, but the rumors are swirling once again that they may  in fact be engaged.

This all comes from a new diamond ring that Rihanna has been sporting on her wedding ring finger.

Former Fugees lead singer Lauryn Hill is set to make a major comeback according to Hill’s longtime partner and father of her five kids, Rohan Marley. Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley, says Hill is a prolific songwriter who scribbles lyrics all over the bathroom walls and on toilet paper.

“She writes it in the mirror if the mirror smokes up,” said Marley. “She writes constantly. This woman does not sleep.”

Gunfire erupted at the close of a party hosted by Jermaine Dupri and attended by Usher, Diddy and others, at Club Dream in Atlanta on Friday night.

When a gunman opened fire in the club in the early morning hours of Saturday, the panicked crowd went running for the exits.

The party was to kick off Dupri’s So So Def Summerfest and also included actors Larenz Tate and Gabrielle Union, as well as Usher.

“I’m sad this incident happened because it interrupted a beautiful and loving party,” Dupri said in a statement released to Access Hollywood. “I’m happy none of my people or friends got hurt. And the party continues.”

A security guard who was struck in the arm was the only injury.

Comedian Bernie Mac was admitted to a Chicago hospital on Friday and is being treated for pneumonia.

In a statement, his publicist said that the 50-year-old comedian is responding well to treatment and should be released soon.   She also said that the pneumonia isn’t related to an inflammatory lung disease that Mac also has. That condition has been in remission since 2005.

Heavy rains are thought to be the cause of the crash that seriously injured actor Morgan Freeman shortly before midnight in rural Mississippi on Sunday.

The 71-year-old actor was unconscious after the car that he was driving, along with passenger Demaris Meyer of Memphis, flipped over and crashed into a ditch.

Freeman was airlifted to the Regional Medical Centre in Memphis, Tennessee, where his condition was described as serious”.

According to Bill Luckett, a business partner of Freeman’s in the Ground Zero Blues Club chain, the actor needed surgery and could need three to four months to recover.

A few hours before a concert in Dallas yesterday, Snoop Dogg’s tour bus was pulled over and two were arrested on marijuana possession charges.

The bus was initially pulled over for an expired registration sticker.  The bus was then searched after officers smelled marijuana.  Two ounces of the drug were found.

Ethan Calhoun, 27, and Kevin Barkey, 26, were arrested on drug charges after admitting the marijuana belonged to them.  Snoop Dogg was not arrested.  He is currently on tour with alt rock band 311.
