APRIL D.- April D. was born and raised in Orlando, FL and graduated from Evans High School. During her high school years April D. began to develop her creative side by writing songs, singing, and performing at local concerts in an all-girl group then managed by Johnny Wright.
April continued to develop her artistic path while attending Florida A&M University. She stumbled upon the school’s radio station and immediately fell in love with the microphone. Soon enough April began to get her hustle on by making connections within the industry which led to an internship with So So Def Records in Atlanta, GA working under the leadership and guidance of Jermaine Dupri. She continued to strengthen her radio skills, and in 1997 April held down a summer internship at 102 JAMZ in the promotions department, and then returned to FAMU that fall to become Program Director of WAMF 90.5.
After graduation, April returned to Orlando and began doing overnights on the air at 102 JAMZ. Her talents wouldn’t be confined to late nights for long, as she was quickly promoted to Morning Show co-host.
In 2002, April D. took advantage of an opportunity to head north and worked overnights and weekends at Washington, D.C.’s top-rated WPGC 95.5. In 2004 she headed back home to102 JAMZ where she currently can be heard on the weekends.
